Heavy Social Networkers Visit Fashion Apparel Sites Frequently
A new study released by comScore, Inc. - a leader in measuring the digital world - shows that those of us who frequent social networking sites are also visiting fashion apparel and other luxury sites more often than the average joe. In fact, to get down to the bare bones numbers, their study, distributed thru CNN Money, showed that 95% of heavy social networkers (the top 20% based on time spent on the social networking sites) visited luxury and fashion retail sites in August; this is compared to 80% of the total U.S. Internet audience. Those who enjoy heavy social networking also seem to be heavily drawn to the more leisure-oriented retail sites. This includes entertainment, technology, and high-end fashion.
Here's a look at their study:

Overall, it appears that heavy social networkers are just more receptive to online advertising. comScore Chairman Gian Fulgoni cites the audience that social networkers have; a group of their peers where they can talk about the new gadget they just bought, or the jeans they just spent $300 on. The social networking sites provide the platform for these conversations to take place.
Taking the study one step further, comScore decided to take a look at which specific sites this group of consumers are heading to; the results? Fashion and apparel sites. Here's a peek at the stats:

Mr. Fulgoni goes on to say that apparel retailers will really benefit from using these social networking sites as a marketing tool to drive this group of consumers their way. We all know how powerful the Internet can be; it's time to start using it to your advantage.
