Summer Intern.pngAnyone up for a quick read on fashion internships?  If so, grab a copy of "Summer Intern" and head for your favorite coffee shop; I'd be willing to bet you'll be through in it an afternoon.

Based in the fictional offices of Skirt, a hot New York fashion magazine, we find Kira Parker, a recent high-school grad from Philly that's headed for her first year at Columbia University AND the summer internship of her dreams; or so she thought.

When Kira arrives in NYC, she thinks that this will be the best summer ever!  She's got a job that feeds her need for fashion and two roommates that are the coolest ever.  But after only a few days, she realizes that her internship isn't going to be filled with celebrity parties and hob-knobbing with the big-shots.  No, her days are filled with sorting through model head shots.  To make matters worse, the daughter of Skirt's owner is her direct competition for the coveted spot of Editorial Intern.  A spoiled little rich girl with style, class, and the hottest boyfriend you could ever want.

So, does Kira have what it takes to swim with the big fish?  Or will she be packing up her things and hopping a bus back to Philly?  Well, I can't tell you that! It would ruin the story!  What I can tell you is this: the authors have done a fantastic job of depicting the daily life of a fashion intern, and the sometimes obnoxious people you can encounter.  Get this book, read it once, read it twice.  You'll likely find yourself pulling it out anytime you need a quick read that's enjoyable and full of quick wit.
