Lauren Conrad is a big name in Hollywood, and not just because she stars in MTV reality hit shows like The Hills and Laguna Beach. No…..Lauren Conrad is also working on a fashion internship.
Miss Conrad has been an intern at Teen Vogue for the last 2 years and up until recently, things were going pretty well. Last summer, they even offered to send her to Paris for an internship. Too bad she politely declined. Her reason? She wanted to stay in LA with her boyfriend.
I can hear the deafening silence already.
But don't worry, she's seen the error of her ways; too bad it was just a little to late. I've said it before and I'll say it again: if you get offered an internship in Paris, Milan, or anywhere else in Europe, TAKE IT!!!
Recently, all the gossip has been about Lauren getting fired from Teen Vogue. Really, it was time for both parties to move on anyway. There has been much speculation about what happened, but when I saw this video on YouTube, it spoke volumes to me and I pretty much drew my own conclusions. Watch it for yourself and see what you think.
Do you see what I see? I bet you do. For starters, Lauren looks completely unprofessional next to Emily, the other intern. And what is with the catty, condescending comments between her and Whitney while the video is playing? Don't they realize that the people at Teen Vogue can watch this stuff? It amazes me sometimes. During my years in this business, I've seen a lot of things and there are two particular habits that I run into again and again: not dressing professionally and being catty. It's bad news! Don't do it!
This is called a profession for a reason - and a profession where image is 99% of the battle I might add!
But one thing I will say for Lauren; she's determined. Her love of fashion runs very deep and she's been at it since she was a little girl when a neighbor taught her how to draw and make clothes for her Barbie's. After starting out at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, she transferred to the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising.
According to Lauren's official website, she'll be having her very own Fall fashion show this year.
So, it sounds like, overall, the split with Teen Vogue doesn't have her too down. I'll be curious to see what she brings to the runway in the fall……
