Fashion 2.0 :: ThisNext.com

Fashion 2.0 has become a hot topic as of late.  And really, why wouldn't it?  With social networking sites springing up all over the place, it's only natural that conversation would spill over to the world of shopping and where to find the next great thing.

ThisNext.pngIn steps ThisNext, a site where registered users can point out their favorite things. They keyword here is "things," because this site is not all about fashion.  For example, check out the "Big Maoi Tissue Dispenser," or "Nothing." Really, there's nothing in the package.

Quirky and kitsch are two good words to describe many of the items found on this site.  Another way to sum it up would be, "interesting products designed by unknowns."  The site really fits a void.  Not everyone that is surfing the 'net is looking for a new Louis Vuitton bag or the latest Jimmy Choo's.

Sites like Kaboodle and StumbleUpon work in much the same way.  People with a love for shopping come together over products they have a common interest in.  We've talked a lot about this in the past, both here and here.

Now, there are some company's that will send in "brand ambassadors" to try and chat up the products they're currently manufacturing; it's guerilla marketing in the new web 2.0 world.  Some sites will try to keep them off, others don't really care too much.  According to most users, it doesn't bother them as long as the person making the recommendation is upfront about their tie-in with the company.  Seems fair enough.

Over the course of the next 12-months, we'll likely see more and more social networking sites focused on shopping.  Regardless of whether you love fashion, hate fashion, or could care less about fashion, there's something pretty intriguing about getting a peek at what others are buying; it's king of like going through other people's closets.

Head over to ThisNext and start your own list…..maybe we'll be browsing your "closet" next!
