  • Increase Online Sales :: Design Your Own Fashion Apparel

    What better way to increase online sales than to offer your customers the option of creating their own apparel?  Athletic companies like Nike and Vans have been offering their customers the option of creating their own shoes for a while now, but to find a fashion shoe that you could design yourself was tough. 
    But, as recently reported by the New York Times, sites like Tupli and SteveMadden.com are changing all that.  Both websites offer their customers the option of "create your own" shoes.  Tupli, started just three years ago by two women who were leaving their careers in banking behind, is a bit more expensive than SteveMadden, but their client list includes A-list stars like Susan Sarandon.  Their shoes offer you a choice of leather or suede, as well as an assortment of embellishments such as rhinestones and personal logos.   • Fashion Internships :: Harper's Bazar Says, "If You Can Afford It, Bid Now!"

    In what might be a first for fashion internships, Harper's Bazar has put an internship up for auction.  According to Glam Boulevard, Harper's is offering a one month internship with them as part of Bette Midler's New York Restoration Project's Hulaween Auction.  With an estimated value of $1500, the current bid stands at $2500 with 1 day and 15 hours left to go.  If you want it, you'd better jump on it.  The next bid to take the lead will be for $2750. 
    Bette Midler founded the NYRP foundation back in 1995 with the belief that "clean and green neighborhoods are fundamental to the quality of life and that every community in New York City deserves an oasis of natural beauty." Other items up for bid include an internship at US Weekly, 2 VIP Tickets to Jessica Alba's next movie premier (with after party access), and a day on the set of Wolverine with Hugh Jackman, among other things.     Fashion is a tricky business; especially if you’re a retailer trying to make an impression in the industry.  So, how do you get shoppers over to your site to take a look at what you have to offer?  You find out what they’re searching for. 
    Take a look at these keyword statistics based on a search of the term “fashion.”

    One thing stands out: while “fashion” is a popular stand-alone search term, it really only equals about 12% of the searches done on any given day. 
    To take these search results at face value, it would appear that there are a smaller number of people searching for the more specific content, but if you add it up, 9,079 (or 26%) of the daily searches were relative to something specific.  If you are hoping to increase your online sales specific to fashion, you must be specific about what you’re selling.
