  • Apparel Sale :: Finding The Perfect Balance in Your Webisodes

    Popular retailer, American Eagle, introduced their dedicated media channel, 77e, several months ago.  Their first bit of content, a weisode series called "It's a Mall World," had a cast of teenagers that were dealing with real-life situations; one of the kids happened to work at the AE store in the mall.  Clothing was typical AE style and it was pretty easy to associate the media content with the brand.  A tie in with MTV thru advertising spots during "Real World: Sydney," put it over the top. • Apparel Sales Got Off To a Great Start This Holiday Season

    According to a report by Coremetrics, both department stores and intimate apparel sites saw strong initial sales figures in the beginning of the holiday season; on the flip side, they report that home-oriented sites and apparel sites were not living up to expectations.  In their report, they have listed sales figures, percentage of change up or down and average checkout dollar value.  However, I tend to disagree slightly with their forcast of a bleak holiday season for apparel sales. • Apparel Sale :: Net-A-Porter's Virtual Helper

    As expected, Net-A-Porter came up with something fabulous to increase their apparel sales through the holiday season.  After launching in 2000 and quickly establishing themselves as the world's premier global online luxury retailer, we always expect great things from them, but this time, they've truly outdone themselves! • Apparel Sale :: There's No Stopping Asos.com!

    Just when other retailers are bracing for a slow down in apparel sales, online retailer Asos commands attention with their announcement that, not only have they not seen a slow down, but they're also on track to meet their full-year forecast!  In a month when the chatter of the British Retail Consortium is all about a decline in consumer-spending on women's wear, Asos proves that if you have the right stuff, the consumers will come…..and spend! • Apparel Sale :: GQ Will Soon Launch in France

    Speaking of CondéNet, CondéNast will be launching their GQ magazine in France soon; February 2008 to be exact.  Almost unbelievably, it has taken GQ 50 years to come to France - it seems quite strange to me.  They've had international editions for a long time, holding their own in the UK since 1988 and in Italy since 1997….they've even been in Russia since 2000! • Apparel Sale :: Plus Size Clothing

    Plus size apparel sales seem to be on the rise as of late; some of it may have to do with the ever increasing size of American's waist-lines, or maybe it's because those shopping for plus size fashions have a much better selection to choose from. (…)

  • Apparel Sale :: Threadless.com Goes from Online to Offline

    Apparel Sale :: Threadless.com's
    "Everybody Loves a Yedi"
    Following in the footsteps of online stores Delias.com and Lucy.com, Threadless has taken their apparel sale from online to offline by opening their first brick and mortar store on Chicago's North Side.  Starting their online business in 2001, the sites snarky t-shirts have flown of the virtual shelves and its sales are expected to be somewhere around $15 million this year.  Not bad for two guys that started with $1000, a t-shirt design contest, and a true guerilla marketing plan. • Apparel Sale :: Tesco Launches Daring Fashion Site

    In America, you have Wal-Mart; in the UK, there is Tesco.  Although not exactly the same, they are similar in nature and both considered retail giants.  You can get just about anything you need at either place.  However, there is one place you may find that they differ; Tesco is a little more forward thinking. • Apparel Sale :: Abercromie launches ruehl.com

    In yet another move to dominate the apparel sale market, Abercrombie & Fitch has put it's Ruehl branded store on the internet.
    The Greenwich Village inspired brand caters to the 22- to 35-year-old market of men and women both.  Ruehl sells apparel, handbags, and cologne and perfume.  Although currently, only the handbags, cologne, and perfume are available on the website, plans to roll out the apparel portion of the line is set for Spring of '08.                                Apparel Sale :: Bridgette :: Ruehl.com
    Ruehl happens to be the last of the Abercrombie lines to go online, although one has to wonder why.  More sophisticated in terms of offerrings, compared to both Abercrombie.com and their other adult apparel site, hollister.com, you would think this would have been launched long ago in an effort to draw in a different market segment.  With handbags ranging in price from the $150's to almost $400, they could have been competitive in this market share long before now.
    An article in Columbus Business First reports that the physical stores of Ruehl posted a 14% increase after one year of being open; a number that would have likely been higher had people had the opportunity to view the product online, and use the store locator to find one near them.
    The bags they offer are sophisticated and well made; a great mid-range handbag that is perfect for the working professional that is just starting out and can't yet afford that $600 Coach bag.
