Apparel Sale :: Savile Row Benefits from Active Online Community
Everyone knows that the Internet has helped many-a-business; but Savile Row is probably the last London street that would expect to see increased apparel sale due to its almighty power.
For as long as anyone can remember, Savile Row has been the place for aristocrats and plutocrats. But now, due to the growth in active online communities, anyone that is interested in the kind of more formal clothing popular in the early 20th century can join a community and get all the information they need. In turn, they can go to Savile Row and make a purchase, without being intimidated by the process.
This might seem odd, especially given that many don't expect men to be so committed to fashion. But don't let the guys fool you; they care too. Often times, when it comes to a more formal piece of clothing, such as a bespoke (custom-made) suit, going to the tailor is almost painful for them. If they can walk in and answer questions in a knowledgable fashion, they'll feel much more comfortable.
So, where would one go to get such information? Try the London Lounge, whose purpose as they put it is to "defend, preserve and perpetuate the cultural heritage embodied in the sartorial arts for future generations." Another good spot is English Cut, a blog written by the tailor Thomas Mahon. Gaziano & Girling, SavileRowBespoke, and WelshandJefferies are all great resources too. Check them out when you get a minute.
