Apparel Sale :: Christian Louboutin vs. Manolo Blahnik

Louboutin and Blahnik are certainly well recognized names in the shoe industry and the arena of apparel sales; but how do they match up with they compared head to head?  We decided to find out and used Google Trends to gather our info.  Here's what we found:

manolo.pngManolo Blahnik has been around a long time.  With a career that spans more than 30 years and a reputation for being one of the most influential footwear designers in the world, Manolo Blahnik seems unstoppable.  Opening his first store in 1973, And his search history shows that, since Google started tracking trends back in 2004, Blahnik has been searched for on a regular basis.  This is to be expected though; speak the name Manolo Blahnik in a post-Sex and The City world and everyone knows who you're talking about.

As Blahnik's searches started to level off in the 1st quarter of 2005, Google started tracking Louboutin as well; on of the first newsworthy searches that is pointed out by Google, regarding Blahnik, is an article title "Eat Your Heart Out, Manolo Blahnik," published by a newspaper in Kentucky. The two have been equally in the news, most likely because each season they roll out with a new product around the same time; therefore, it makes since that they would have similar peaks and valley.  However, since Louboutin's first blip on the Google Trends radar, the search traffic for the pair slowly became closer and closer in numbers, until they finally became virtually the same in the third quarter of 2007; Louboutin now has a slightly higher search volume than Blahnik.

cl.pngChristian Louboutin made a big impression when he hit the scene; and he hasn't stopped since.  With the Miami Herald calling his shoes "sex on a stiletto" they think he knows what a woman wants - and they're right.  A man who was distracted from schoolwork by dancing and showgirls, he tried to sell his first designs to music hall dancers at the age of 16!  It wasn't long after that when he began to work and apprentice with some of the big name designers of the time like Charles Jourdan.  Opening his first store in 1992, he won the hearts of everyone who saw and wore his designs - his shoes are well known and easily recognizable by their red lacquered soles.

So, what does the future hold for these two amazing designers? It's look like nothing but greatness can come to the two of them.  Both designers know what a woman wants and they both have had wild success making it so.  For as long as a woman lusts for a beautiful shoe, Manolo Blahnik and Christian Louboutin will continue to make them.
